In the company of hens and cat.....

Today has been a lovely day, just a breeze (no really, just a breeze), sunshine and, unlike most of the rest of the country, No Snow!  So I made the most of the day with a walk to the beach for a little solitary ruminating on life... well it would have been solitary had I not been pursued by the chickens and shadowed by Button! Still they were well behaved and good company and we all enjoyed "taking the air".

Button, keeping both eyes wide open for the hens with their pecky beaks!

Here the hens are enjoying rootling around the seaweed. All adds to the flavour of the eggs!

I did begin to feel a bit like the "Pied Piper" though with them all following me.

They were determined not to lose sight of me.....

Button made it home before me

And of course a nap was in order upon return.....for some! I had domestic duties to perform and a cake to bake!

  1. i just love the photos today, Sian. Pied Piper without a pipe, but with lots of eggs for cake baking. :-)

  2. Oh, that is so funny! Button is lovely. Sometimes, my cat, Heidi, will come with me and the dogs for our daily walk too, and I feel like the Pied Piper! x

  3. I think that's one of the cutest things I've ever seen. Thanks for starting my day off with a chuckle.

  4. I am so taken with the idea of taking a walk with the chickens and a cat. Amazing. Love the pictures.

  5. Perpetua - hmm now if only there WERE eggs! I had to get some from the shop the other day! But I see combs are reddening so hopefully hens about to start laying again...... and then yes I'll have plenty of eggs ( and lots of happy friends who take the surplus!).

Julie - Button's always enjoyed a walk with me along the shore. This walk was a little too "on the wild side" for her - she was not happy to be usurped from her position by my side by CHICKENS .

Karen -Glad it amused you :-)

Bonnie -Thank you! It did feel slightly bizarre - then I got worried that they hadn't all followed me OFF the beach so had to go back and count them....sig.... not sure they would know what to do if the tide came in!!

  6. That was so much fun walking with you, the cat and the chickens. Thanks for letting me tag along.
