Sunset......

And to end the day a most amazing sunset with stunning colours that filled the sky for hours.

I had to drive up to post some letters in our island post box and the light was just beautiful before sunset.  It reflected off the tower of Hoy High lighthouse and the gable end of Sandside.

And the light across Sandside Bay was lovely....

I stopped further along the road to take a photo of the sun starting to set....

The clouds were beautiful too

And then the light show began...

Lights of Stromness just coming on

  1. When we first visited Orkney we saw a book with the title "The loom of the light" (Georg Mackay Brown), but we had to see the Hoy cliffs in winter light to understand it. This sunset is a wonderful fabric as well.

  3. After a few years of reading and enjoying your blog I was actually today walking the coast path at Stromness looking out at Graemsay! I sent you good wishes and thanks across the water. Only here for a week and I will be so very sad to leave even though we go back to a lovely corner of Wales.

    1. I know. I love our large skies here so much, particularly having lived in suburbia and just caught sight of the sunset through buildings and reflections.

    1. Yes it's a beautiful light in Orkney. Many artists love it. I believe the North light is the best.
