Evening light.....

The days are lengthening now, and there is still daylight till almost 7.  It was a beautiful evening the other night.  A blackbird sang as I went to put the hens to bed. It was accompanied by a wren.  I love Spring.  It's my favourite time of year.

Lovely deep blue skies.  Looking towards West Mainland and Stromness.

And the sun tinged sky and beautiful calm sea.

That way lies Canada!

The other side of Sandside Bay.

  1. That way is Canada.....did you see me waving? Beautiful pictures as usual Sian. I am anxiously awaiting spring, but we are scheduled for a storm this evening. Ugh. Take care.

  2. Your views are so beautiful, and there is much to be said for spring (although my favorite season is autumn) . . . and I imagine you can really see the stars quite well at night there? Here we are too close to city lights so it's difficult.

    1. Ooooh no, I'm not a fan of autumn. Spring is my time of year, full of hope and possibilities :-)

And yes we can clearly see the Milky Way and the Merry Dancers (Northern Lights) too. Though there is light pollution from the town across the water even here.

  3. What a wonderful part of the country to live in - beautiful light and love your photos too - reminds me of the clear light you get on Skye :-)

  4. I agree with you, Sian, spring is the most wonderful time. Hens and wrens, blackbirds and sunsets, yes, spring is definitely coming to you!!! I just wonder, out of pure curiosity off course, how does one put hens to bed?? Pillows, covers and lullabyes? Perhaps a bedtime story? Lovely pictures anyway, as always!!!

  5. I'm waving wildly with Bonnie in Canada. Our days are lengthening too but are never quite as crazy long and short at our latitude in Nova Scotia as at your northern latitude.

    1. Coooeeeee! Waves back! I really love this time of year when the days get visibly longer as each one passes. And our clocks go forward an hour for "British Summer Time" at the weekend so it gets even better with longer daylight at the end of the day
