We too often find bits of glass and old china in the bluebell woods, which were clearly the castle's midden at least until well into the 19th Century.

I love that bit of pinkish red spongeware you've unearthed. The bottle looks like an ink bottle, perhaps? I like to put old bottles in the windows to catch the light. As for china, I did once stick a load of broken bits around the wooden frame of a cheap mirror. It looks really good and it was very therapeutic work, as I had to smash some of the larger bits down to size: a cathartic afternoon wielding a hammer! :)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-496522256748038434.post-17671796539359801342013-06-04T12:25:39.898+01:002013-06-04T12:25:39.898+01:00What a gorgeous bottle! We too keep funding bits of china and glass around our Welsh farmhouse and I rather like the idea of a frustrated Welsh wifie relieving her feelings with a well-aimed throw. ;-)Perpetuahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01214396019726161983noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-496522256748038434.post-65747574537652915122013-06-03T08:28:52.696+01:002013-06-03T08:28:52.696+01:00so i hope you find more treasures ... :)so i hope you find more treasures ... :)Babzy.Bhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08726884546505964576noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-496522256748038434.post-86106833256344103862013-06-03T01:06:28.912+01:002013-06-03T01:06:28.912+01:00Love the view out your bedroom window !

Phoebe would sleep until lunchtime if left to herself. I found your blog via the Scottish round-up and I had to click because of the photo as it looks very much like it could be a view from my own small island.... Shetland! I've only been to Orkney twice, briefly, but I do want to return for a proper holiday some time.
