I've been unwell for a couple of weeks (non-covid related!) Am feeling better now but still low on energy. So here are a few photos from around and about the island this June. The weather has been mixed with some lovely days and some cooler, fresher days. Orkney is getting busier with visitors which is good for the economy. We have had a few cases of Covid-19 in recent weeks, mostly local folk returning home from visits south. But no significant outbreak so far. Orkney is in Level 0 so shops, hotels, pubs etc are open, although there are still restrictions on social distancing, mask wearing, and capacity.
Right - back to Graemsay..... these photos were taken in the last couple of weeks. Sunrise (which I did see this morning but no photo!) was at 4am, and sunset will be at 22.30. Though I may be in bed before then!
There have been magnificent summer skies....
Crepuscular rays - love the sunbeam shooting up....
Thrift on the old lighthouse pier....
The quarry again. The old croft of Dean in the background with the hills of Hoy further back.
Button likes to find any warm spot for a nice snooze....
Hope to be out and about again soon! Enjoy summer folks, and stay safe and well....
Some gorgeous images there! Thank you for posting them, and wishing you a speedy recovery.
ReplyDeleteThank you!

ReplyDeleteBelatedly - Happy Solstice. Hope you are feeling better soon.
ReplyDeleteMuch better now. And yes a very belated Happy Solstice!
Deletethanks for the beautiful photos--as usual. Feel better soon!
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed them...
DeleteWonderful skies. Does Button ever meet any other Graemsay cats?
ReplyDeleteFortunately there are few cats on the island now, maybe about 8? I rarely see any around the byres or field, and Button isn't a confrontational cat so I think she slinks away if she sees another feline! Fingers crossed anyway! My previous cat was always getting beaten up by a great bruiser of a ginger tom for a farm across the island but fortunately he moved on!
DeleteI have enjoyed your blog for a long time. Your photos are inspiring, the light, the sea, the land. Button, reminds me of my old cat Buddy. Take care.
ReplyDeleteIt was lovely to read your comment! Thank you so much. Take care too in these extra strange times.
DeleteThanks for more photos of your island. It's a wonderful place to live
