Late Summer sunset......

These photos were taken on the 31st August, which, according to the Meteorological office in the UK, is the last day of summer.  However the weather has continued warm, largely sunny, with no wind for an additional 8 days, before finally succumbing to rain.  Rain, it has to be said, is desperately needed!  It hasn't rained properly, other than the odd shower, for months.  It's the first time, in the memory of current Graemsay farmers, that all the burns and ditches have run dry for so long.  They are even having to transport water round the island to livestock.

Anyway, back to the 31st and a beautiful late summer sunset.....  At this time of year the sun now sets behind Graemsay. A sure sign of the season changing.

The Hoy hills were cloaked in clouds....

But the sun continued to shine across Sandside bay...
