Snow showers!

To be honest it fell on Graemsay mostly as sleet and hail.  But this is what the weather reporters mean when they say "snow on hills".  It was a wee bit chilly for a while, but it didn't last.

A snow shower on Hoy!

We've not had "proper" snow for years.  I love the brightness of fresh snow but I do hate it once it gets slushy or even worse, frozen over!

  1. Me too. We had a little snow yesterday, but it didn't stay on the ground long. I much prefer the snow storm on Hoy, to the one on the road past my house.

    1. It always looks so dramatic watching the weather on Hoy! Though I usually hope it doesn't travel across to me! LOL!

  2. I love fresh, crisp snow too. We don't often see it in Hampshire. Loved your photos.

    1. I used to live in Kent and it was rare for there to be thick snow for any length of time. It's unusual in Orkney too - most of the time it's too mild, we tend to get wet and windy winters. I do love the crispness of fresh snow though.
