Sea Snake

No not a real snake, but some photos (courtesy of Irene of Breckan) of the experimental renewable energy equipment using wave power. This is being trialled just off Billia Croo on the West Mainland of Orkney, and the "sea snake" can be seen going up and down the Flow to it's base at Lyness on the island of Hoy.

  2. Orkney is the centre of lots of renewable energy projects at the moment due to the tides etc. But the sea snake hasn't probed that robust so this is yet another modified version! There are a couple of tidal sites in Orkney too which are experimental. I think they might be more successful asthe equipment looks more robust!
